Looking to upgrade my Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3800+
motherboard

I would like an AMD 64 bit dual core.

Looking at
http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=343&name=Processors-Desktops

CPU Socket Types left side of page is not much help.

I have no idea which CPU Socket Type is socket 939 or if I just need to
jack up the monitor and slide a new system under it.

The AMD processors listed on the above page appear to be all socket am3
(not 939), but then I didn't look at every last one.

For a description of socket 939:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=what+is+socket+939&aq=f&aqi=l1g1&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=

Newegg doesn't list any processors suitable for socket 939 when I
specifically searched for 'socket 939 processors'.

By the way, these two newsgroups are *much* more active than this one:

alt.comp.hardware

alt.comp.hardware.pc-homebuilt

Hope that Paul, Jan or Grinder or answer your query, all 3 are very
knowledgeable.
